A Johnny Voorhies Bibliography

At the turn of the 20th century, when bowling was just getting organized, Johnny Voorhies (1877-1930) was generally regarded as the world’s greatest bowler—even if the newspapers couldn’t agree on how to spell his last name.  Voorhies made his reputation mostly in action matches. However, he also won a number of tournaments, most notably the first ABC Doubles championship in 1901. He was the first bowler famous enough to earn a nickname: “The Little Wizard.” For more on Voorhies, see my two-part story in the January and February issues of BOWLERS JOURNAL INTERNATIONAL.
