I remember Don rolling 256-300-256 for 812 series in the All Star
at Faetz. I was on ( I think) the Pabst Team with Glen Allison who
had a chance to beat the 812 on the last night of league play. He spun around a ten pin in the tenth frame of the last game, shot 790 something and bounced his ball into the bar ( we finished on lanes
11-12) I think he had high league average of 222 but the 790+ series
on the last night actually made his final average 223. The 222 stayed
    on the trophy.

I interviewed Don at his bowling center in Houston in 2006 as part of the Bowling Museum’s oral history project. Afterward, he treated me to “the best hamburger in Houston” from the grill there—and it really was mighty good. Maybe someday the Museum will share those interviews with the public.
