I remember Walter Ward from one of the ‘Championship Bowling’ series, though I don’t recall which one. He had a textbook, straight- forward approach; very repeatable. Good player.

    • J.R. Schmidt Says:

Ward was on the 1959 “Championship Bowling” series in Toledo, the first year of the tournament format. Fred Wolf introduced him as “the fabulous Walter Ward”—Ward was over 60 at the time, but had just made the finals of the All-Star tournament. On the TV show, he lost in the first round to Eddie Kawolics, anyway.

  2. Frank Schmitt Says:

The “Man With The Crooked Cigar.”
