    He holds the record for the lowest single game on Championship Bowling. In the 2nd season in Paramus, NJ, he lost to Bill Lillard during Lillard’s 10-match unbeaten streak and one of his games was a 141. In all the years after that, nobody ever took that dubious distinction away from him.

      I wrote about Lillard’s winning streak in Bowlers Journal some years ago, so I watched all the tapes, including the Asplund match. That 141 came in the third game. The weirdest thing is that Asplund actually started the first game with a six-bagger. Talk about not adjusting to changing lane conditions!
