Ted Hoffman Jr (1955)

Hoffman--Jr and Sr

Newsday Eastern Open winner, 1964

PBA Hall-of-Famer and Bowling Proprietor

The picture is from 1955, when 15-year-old Ted Jr. became the youngest bowler to roll a sanctioned 300 game—a rare fete for anyone of any age 61 years ago.

There’s a video posted to YouTube by “Metro Bowler” featuring Ted Hoffman, Jr. He bowled against Bob Strampe in a “King Of The Hill” format in the 2nd year of Top Star Bowling at Marlborough Lanes outside of St Louis. Hoffman was the challenger & he lost. The show aired sometime in the 60’s and used Brunswick-affiliated bowlers. I’m guessing this was after Championship Bowling switched from Brunswick to AMF around 1961.

Thanks for the info. Youtube also has the video of the championship match at the 1966 Miller Open, with Lillard defeating Hoffman for the title.

I watched it—2 parts. Chris Schenkel & Billy Welu with the commentary.
