I did an oral history interview with Ed in 2002, and he was a wonderful guy. His autobiography King of the Pins (written with Kevin Allen and Del Reddy) is a must-read for anyone interested in bowling’s Golden Age.

It was a Pro regional tournament held at Taylor Lanes, Taylor Michigan where I met Ed Lubanski for the 1st and only time in September 1982. Ed was in his early 50’s and had made the cut in the top 24. He still threw it good at the time, but what I remembered most about him was his smile and love of the game. He was a gentleman and someone I wish I could have gotten to know better. Tidbit, Mike Totsky, famed Stroh’s Beer team member was Taylor Lanes GM when we bowled that weekend. A lot of great bowling history came out of Michigan. I will read that book King of the Pins. Thank you for all the photos and articles through the years. Keep up the mission, Don Scudder Jr
