My Dad ran the Banquet hall to this place in the late 80s early 90s. I know this place like the back of my hand.

Loved this place as a kid. I miss it…. I found 2 slides of the first floor that my dad took in the early 80’s.

  3. Phil Weaver Says:

Had two levels to bowl; First floor was high ceilings and poles. The other lanes were more modern. I believe there was also a pool hall in the building.

Isn’t this the bowling alley shown in the movie Uncle Buck?

    • J.R. Schmidt Says:

I don’t know, and I haven’t seen the movie in years. IMDB says it’s Windy City.

    • Laura Says:

Yes the outside of this theater was filmed in Uncle Buck. However when he was inside the bowling alley that was a different place. I believe mom told us they weren’t allowed to film inside the building.

I grew up in this area we lived down the street next to a funeral home which is now a church.the area looks so different now . I remember going to Woolworth it doesn’t look like that building is there either. When did Palace Bowl get demolished?
