If I remember right, Rudy Habetler had a bowling alley in Chicago on Northwest Hwy and Foster on the NW side.

You’re right. I bowled there as a kid and young man, and knew Rudy very well. His family still operates Habetler Bowl.

Thanks, I grew up in Chicago around Elston and Lawrence. In the 40’s and 50’s there was a bowling alley on Elston just north of Lawrence, Mayfair Bowl. They had 4 lanes in the basement and an upper area, approx 18 lanes, with pool tables etc. I also bowled quite a bit at Rolaway Lanes on Pulaski Road near Lawrence. Great Memories.. Thanks again for the info.

I learned to bowl at Habetler’s. First on Saturday mornings as a kid and then as an adult from 7:30-9:00 PM where my team, The Studs would try to beat our biggest rivals the Alley Cats. One of the greatest days of my life was when I rented my own locker there. Once I saw the great Carmen Salvino bowl there live! Great memories of simpler times long ago.
